Favorite New Author: John Green
I read. A lot. Even with my insane schedule of working 12 hour days, breaking a record a month, going to Monster Truck rallies, wandering around skid row at Midnight, and drinking more alcohol than could possibly fit into a midsized 80’s van let alone a human body, I tend to get through about a book a week. If that seems like a lot of reading to you, consider this: You aren’t reading...

A STORY OF MY FIRST WEEK OF HIGH SCHOOL
I went to a public elementary school, a private middle school, and a public high school. What this means is that, during my younger formative years, I became good friends with a number of kids - then was yanked out of that social circle, forced to become friends with a whole NEW group of kids in a different middle school… And then, after three years of that, I was shoved back into the...

Hitchcock/Truffaut
A.H.: Well, the silent pictures were the purest form of cinema; the only thing they lacked was the sound of people talking and the noises. But this slight imperfection did not warrant the major changes that sound brought in. In other words, since all that was missing was simply natural sound, I cannot achieve any kind of sexual pleasure unless there is a woman stomping on my testicles. Preferably with high heels, or some kind of heavy boot. Also, there was no need to go to the other extreme and completely abandon the technique of the pure motion picture, the way they did when sound came in.
F.T.: I agree. In the final era of silent movies, the great film-makers--in fact, almost the whole of production--had reached something near perfection. The introduction of sound, in a way, jeopardized that perfection. I mean that this was precisely the time when the high screen standards of so many brilliant directors showed up the woeful inadequacy of the others, and the lesser talents were gradually being eliminated from the field. Human life means nothing to me. I cannot feel anything. I cut myself on and around the groin; I burn myself with paper matches while watching movies of myself as a child... Nothing seems to work. In this sense one might say that mediocrity came back into its own with the advent of sound.
A.H.: I agree absolutely. In my opinion, that's true even today. In many of the films now being made, there is very little cinema: they are mostly what I call 'photographs of people talking.' When we tell a story in cinema, we should resort to dialogue only when it's impossible to do otherwise. I always try first to tell a story in the cinematic way, through a succession of shots and bits of film in between. I've tried to hang myself with a belt while a prostitute beats me with long hard strips of plastic, but it does nothing. I've also tried murdering several homeless men and... Used their bodies in the night. Still, my soul is an empty chasm filled with nothing but black despair and pretentious filmmaking. I love Ke$ha. I love her music. I drink blood and listen to Tik Tok over and over. My name is Alfred Hitchcock. It seems unfortunate that with the arrival of sound the motion picture, overnight, assumed a theatrical form. One day I will taste the brains of a child. Is anyone reading this, or will they just mindlessly reblog it, like everyone else on fucking Tumblr? We shall see. We shall see. Whichever way you choose to stage the action, your main concern is to hold the audience's full attention. Summing it up, one might say that the screen rectangle must be charged with emotion.

Away
“So the box goes in the bag.” “Yes.” “And the bag goes in the tank.” “Yes.” “And the - “ ” - And the person is transported away to safety. Correct.” Another explosion shook the room. There was shouting from upstairs.  “To where?” “To… Somewhere else. Another place. Away.” The drugs were...

When I was in Indianapolis for the Superbowl last weekend, I managed to sneak into some parties - including this one, where it was rumored there would be naked ladies. The party turned out to be a little different than I expected. Also, it turned out that this WASN’T the Playboy party. I have no idea what party this was. Oh well.

Karnell and I broke our first record over the weekend. If you’ve got a record that you want us to try and break, ask us on the TwelveInTwelve Blog! twelveintwelve: For our first record, we attempted to break this record right here. The problem is that Karnell didn’t read the fucking record right - it’s not in the video, but we did the ABC’s, not the Pledge of Allegiance. You can be DAMN...
