Thanks to everyone who came out to wish me a happy birthday last night!  I had a fantastic time - even though I drank more Chinese whiskey than any mortal ever should. Ugh.

In lieu of presents, I asked everyone to anonymously write down a secret about themselves that no one else knows. Whether we mean to or not, we all lead secret lives - and I think the things we don’t tell each other are sometimes more important than the things we do. I’m a big fan of the site Post Secret and thought it would be fun for all my friends to know something about each other that they wouldn’t - or couldn’t - say in person.

It is easy for us humans to forget that we live on what is possibly the greatest planet our solar system has to offer: Earth. (Jupiter is also cool, but only because it’s got that crazy red eye storm thingie that’s been going on for like a trillion years) While trying to grok the myriad mysteries of deep space, we are all too quick to forget that our natural world is full of its own unique mysteries. As the Romans said “To know thyself is to know God”. And as God said “If I see one more ad for The Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes I’ll come down there and fucking split Humanity in two with my omnipotent God-boner.” He really said that. It’s in The Bible.

But I digress.

There is a lot about the natural world that I’ll bet you didn’t know. Even the most familiar of animals have secrets that are known to very few. I, however, do a lot of reading on the subject, and have traveled the world over to become one with nature. I have been accepted into numerous tribes and animal groups and have learned secrets that no one else knows. Today, lucky reader, I will share those secrets with you.

The most important thing to remember is this: In the animal world, nothing is as it seems.
